Singer and songwriter John Denver touched millions of people, and achieved superstar status by his folk-inspired pop hits most of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell in New Mexico. He was enthralled by Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown of Colorado Music Hall of Fame, the director of this hall of fame said: "I don't believe there any other performer who embodies Colorado like John Denver." Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in the year 2011. He is now the symbol of Colorado for people worldwide. In all my travels I've encountered many non-Colorado residents. Colorado. They will declare, "Oh John Denver!" whenever they learn that you come from Colorado. Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was one of Denver's top 10 singles after performing with small folk bands. It was co-written by and recorded by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune using Johnny Cash's songs in mind, but Denver realized from the first time he heard the earlier versions that it was going to be an instant hit. Danoff recorded the track just a few days later when he performed it in front of an enthusiastic audience on the streets of Washington D.C.
